Donald Trump crushed it at Thursday's debate. Really, my only complaint was that this wasn't the Trump we saw a few weeks ago. He sometimes seems more focused on speaking to his MAGAsexual fanbois than he is the American people as a whole. On Thursday night, he spoke to all voters. This was the president we need to hear from for the next twelve days or so.

To be clear, being a — for lack of a better phrase — more "normal" president doesn't mean he stops being Trump. My dude still threw many an elbow at Joe Biden the way only Trump does.

Whether or not Trump's debate performance changes he course of the race or not, who knows. Also, who knows what the course of the races is. Yes, public data points to a Biden victory. Anecdotal data points to another Trump upset (see MSNBC GIVES SURPRISING DATA SHOWING DONALD TRUMP CAN SHOCK IN PENNSYLVANIA and THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN IS KNOCKING ON A MILLION DOORS A WEEK. THE BIDEN CAMPAIGN? NONE.). The election is still anyone's game, and the only bet I'm willing to make for Election Day is my lack of sobriety.

But Trump's debate performance makes me more confident he can win than I was a few weeks ago. Chances are, I'm not the only voter who thinks so.
