It would appear that women, especially in the podcasting world, have it much harder.

Podcast Host Alex Cooper has reportedly rejected claims that she threatened to fabricate harassment allegations against Barstool Sports to get out of a contract. Today’s show breaks this down.

“You have a lot of women making it in the Podcast space,” Crowder said. “It helps if you extort and basically blackmail your way to the top.”

According to Fortune:

Unwell, the media company founded by popular podcast host Alex Cooper, has received an investment from Hollywood super agent Patrick Whitesell that values the firm at $500 million, according to people familiar with the deal.

Its frank conversations about love and sex struck a nerve, particularly with young women. Sirius XM Holdings Inc. pays Unwell more than $30 million a year to handle distribution and advertising sales for program.

According to The Wrap, Dave Portnoy has claimed that Cooper “threatened to fabricate sexual harassment allegations [against the workplace] to get out of her Barstool Sports contract.”

“You can't point out any of the top programs out there, such as Joe Rogan; they did not get ahead by claiming a toxic work environment by being given a platform by some other guy and then breaking bad,” Crowder said. “That is the fast path to get ahead for a lot of women. That is not a good example for young women to follow. It is also going to make men more apprehensive about hiring women.”

However, she claimed, “That’s not how I remember that at all.”

“You cannot point me to the example of the guys who are the equivalent of Alex Cooper who have gotten ahead, but you can point me to the guys who have had their careers destroyed because of these types of plans that were had. It happens all the time. It is the fastest way to get ahead. It is a shake-down,” Crowder said.
