Evan Gershkovich was released from a Russian prison after he was jailed on charges of espionage. The ladies on “The View” tried to use this as an excuse to accuse America of turning into a state hostile to journalism, so much so that it is akin to Russia. Gershkovich did not fall for it because of this little thing called “facts.”

That was a bit of a stretch, to say the very least.

What is so pathetic is that if America were anything remotely like Russia, or if Trump were a dictator, they wouldn't be able to say this or like 90% of any of the things they say on the show. Are they really that stupid, or are they just making things up? There is also this little thing called the First Amendment. Glad we cleared this up.

According to Reuters:

Gershkovich, then 31, became the first US reporter arrested on espionage charges in Russia since the Cold War. He was later sentenced to 16 years in prison before being freed in an East-West prisoner swap in August 2024.

The fact that Joy tried to pretend as if America is close to arresting journalists for espionage or that the Trump Administration will soon do so is truly deranged. Is anyone buying this nonsense anymore? Someone should really inform these ladies that the whole “threat to Democracy” thing has been deeply overplayed. In fact, some may argue it is nonsense like this that caused the left to lose the election in the first place. While you can draw your own conclusions, the fact that these ladies try to compare Russia and America as if they are remotely similar in terms of freedom of the press is not rooted in reality. But what else is new?
