Today I learned of the term “safe snorting.” Call me crazy, but I was under the assumption that snorting any substance, especially illegal narcotics, was the antithesis of safety, but never underestimate the sheer stupidity of our Canadian neighbors.
Canada will reportedly be handing out paper straws to inmates to encourage “safe snorting.” Paper, obviously, because hello, the environment, or whatever.

The Correctional Service of Canada has confirmed that paper straws will soon be distributed in federal prisons to facilitate safe snorting of drugs.
This week a social media post included photos of a memo distributed to Corrections staff stating that paper straws were being newly “introduced” for “safer snorting” and “intended for inhaling substances in powdered form or inhaling vapour from heated substances.”
The explanation provided was that paper straws will “reduce harm” by lessening the risk of internal nose cuts that could occur from homemade or plastic straws and reduce infections from diseases such as hepatitis B and C, while “recognizing that overdose and toxicity risk remain.”
I stand corrected. It turns out the paper straws were actually to reduce the risk of nose cuts from plastic straws. Unclear if this has anything to do with climate change or whatever.
Call me old-fashioned, but back in my day, which was like yesterday, narcotic use in prisons was considered a bad thing. And while this sounds extreme to us today, this is very likely coming to a liberal city near you tomorrow. This is because progressivism is a contagious disease.
While you would assume authorities should probably be holding inmates accountable when they are caught snorting drugs, it appears they would not only turn a blind eye but also embolden these crimes, all under the guise of safe snorting. How is this not satire? Make it make sense.
