Watch as Bruce Springsteen launches his guitar across the stage and it smacks a poor tech in the noggin
Bruce Springsteen has been performing for about six decades now. Which is a very long time. But apparently not long enough to master his guitar throw.
A fan video of Springsteen smacking his longtime technician in the head with his guitar started circulating today. And it wasn't just a light toss. Oh no. Springsteen turned, knees bent, and geared up for a moment before launching that sucker straight into the poor technician's face.
The technician, Kevin Buell, spread his arms wide in an attempt to catch it. He appeared to launch himself forward, overshot the guitar, and missed it with his hands to instead hit it with his head.

Buell immediately collapsed, as one naturally would after being struck with a guitar by The Boss. Springsteen walked over, grinning, to see if Buell was ok, but Buell had already started to leave the stage. Presumably to nurse his sore noggin.
It's not known if Buell suffered any significant injuries. Springsteen suggested all was well quickly when he returned to the mic and jokingly said, "man down!"
The video was taken from Springsteen's February 3rd performance in Atlanta. Springsteen and his E Street Band have been on tour since May of last year, their first tour together since 2017. Other than wounding his technicians, this tour saw Springsteen perform "If I Was the Priest" for the first time since 1972. He explained he wrote the song when he was 22, and he still doesn't "have a clue what the f*ck it’s about.”
Springsteen has previously performed the guitar toss and managed not to maim or injure anyone, in Munich in 2009, and Seattle in 2016. Given that he's 73 years old, it's a wonder he's still touring, let alone launching his guitar across the stage. So perhaps we should cut The Boss some slack. And hope Buell's head is okay.
