Ireland’s socialist president uses St. Paddy’s Day to push globalism, refuses to call him “Saint” Patrick

WATCH: Ireland’s socialist president Catherine Connolly faces backlash for a bleak St. Patrick’s Day address—dropping “saint,” calling him “Patrick,” and politicizing his story.

Ireland’s President Catherine Connolly has equated St. Patrick’s Day to the “resilience and courage” of migrants. And there are so many things wrong with what she said that it is unclear where to begin.
Firstly, the holiday commemorates the death of Saint Patrick, a Christian missionary who brought Christianity to Ireland. This has nothing to do with mass migration in the present-day understanding.
Additionally, nothing Saint Patrick went through has anything to do with today’s migrants. Imported third-world immigrants largely come here to take from the First World, not to spread Christianity. Today’s migrants also don't first immigrate to countries against their will, to later return to spread the word of God. One of these things is not like the other.
Why does the left have to turn everything into some socialist virtue-signaling festival? Not every holiday needs to turn into a leftist cause, and it is deeply disingenuous when they do that.
“Patrick’s story invites us to respond with hospitality and kindness to those suffering the consequences of war and displacement, those fleeing their countries because of persecution or violence.”
“The story of Patrick’s life serves as a reminder of the resilience and courage of migrants, the invaluable contributions that they have made, and continue to make, to the countries they now call home, sometimes even in the face of great adversity,” she said.
She also ended the clip by calling the people of Ireland “global citizens,” implying that she is all in it for open borders. Yet, she failed to mention one example as to how “diversity” or mass migration has made the country better off. We can, however, come up with endless examples as to how Saint Patrick did just that. Again, one of these things is not like the other.
You can also come up with a million examples as to how mass migration is destroying the country, but that is neither here nor there. Nonetheless, never underestimate the left’s ability to take a non-controversial holiday and twist it for their pathetic causes.- YouTube www.youtube.com
