Every year, there seems to be a contest to see what award show can be the most political. It could be a controversial host (see RICKY GERVAIS TORCHES HOLLYWOOD'S POLITICS AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES [VIDEO] and KEVIN HART GIVES AWESOME INTERVIEW ABOUT TWEET/OSCAR CONTROVERSY). It could be a smug speech. Or a bunch of woke movies no real people actually watched. The Academy Awards decided to up the ante recently, and make the entire awards about politics with what they call their new "inclusion" standards. Bill Maher was less than amused.

It's important that we don't wind up with artists guided less by a creative vision and more by a to do list. Because we are talking about a world where if you want to make the next 'Schindler's List,' the first thing you'll need to do is give a racial break down of all your employees. Does anyone see the irony in that?

One main point I disagree with: Hollywood liberals apparently are NOT as woke and inclusive as advertised. They just pretend to be so that they can lecture the rest of us. It's usually their most convincing performance. If the Academy wants to be all faux-woke, they should give an award for that. Best Virtue Signalling by a Leftist Hollywood Douche. Think about it: how many celebrities have you heard praising these new guidelines? How many of them actually gave a sh!t about inclusion on the production team without being forced to. HINT: Not many.

But this is just Hollywood. Most Americans just want to go to the movies to be entertained. That's already not the case with a lot of the movies that the Academy likes to celebrate.
