Why Are Trump's Poll Numbers Up? Perhaps This Overlooked Reason...
Most of the political world was shocked to see Trump's recent poll numbers (see Poll Shows Positive Numbers for Trump and Republicans Going Into Midterms and Democrat Panic: Republicans Lead in This New Midterm Poll). Trump's is at his all-time highest AND higher than Obama was at this time in 2010. The GOP is killing it on the economy. As for the Democrat "blue wave?" Might be more like a blue burp. Just imagine a Smurf with an ice cream headache.
John Ziegler -- a cat who is the furthest thing from a MAGA-sexual -- listed a few reasons for the surprising numbers. This reason stands out:
Much of the general public, those not obsessed with Trump’s tweets or the latest White House controversy, simply aren’t seeing any negative impact (yet) on their lives due to the Trump presidency. This makes them even more suspicious of what many of them see as the media’s over-the-top attacks on him.
If you're reading this, you probably have a slight political obsession. We don't judge. Same for our counterparts on the left side of the Internet who live and die by what The Huffington Post says about gender spectrums. So here's a thought experiment. Take the kids pumpkin picking, or maybe go to your niece or nephew's soccer game. Look around. How many people do you think pay attention to Trump's daily tweet vomit? How many even have the time to give a tiny rat's tochus?
Now ask yourself how many of them are able to be there that weekend thanks to Trump's tax cuts. Or the booming economy. Those are the people who vote.
Which is not to say there won't still be a blue wave. Or at least a blue ripple. If there is, it'll happen in the last 72 hours and possibly not picked up by polls. For all the hand-wringing by cable news about Democrats not having a message, I sure do see a lot of commercials for Democrat candidates focused on health care and pre-existing conditions. Which is so 2010.
We'll see who turns out in two weeks. If nothing else, Trump's new poll number's are a reminder to shut off the computer and occasionally talk to a human being. You may not be as surprised by the poll results if you do. There is life beyond Twitter. It's a magical place.
