Leftists are spreading fake news about ICE arresting a 15-year-old girl in Chicago, here's what ACTUALLY happened

As you probably know, the left is eager to paint ICE as the worst thing to ever happen to this country—simply because they enforce federal immigration laws. I know, you know, and even your grandma knows that this isn’t new; every president has relied on these officers to uphold the law. Yet, because ICE exists and has existed for a long time, the left often resorts to extreme takes to make their point, which is already thin to begin with. That’s why we frequently see misleading stories promoted by the left. Sometimes, this can even lead them to inadvertently defend human smugglers or the most dangerous elements of society. And in their rush to criticize the current administration, they don’t always bother to fact-check viral videos. But honestly, what else is new?
Imagine being so desperate to demonize law enforcement you post a video from a burglary arrest Chicago Police made over a year ago.
This isn’t even ICE. https://t.co/2NhJybMsri

The left is pushing a viral video online, claiming it shows ICE agents going after a teenage girl. In reality, the footage is over a year old, filmed when Biden was still president, and actually shows Chicago PD arresting a 15-year-old girl wanted in connection with a string of crimes on public transit.
Context from Oct. 2024 Fox 32 article:
The juvenile, whose name is not being released due to her age, faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of aggravated battery on transit passengers, one count of robbery, and one count of attempted robbery. She is also charged with obstructing identification, a misdemeanor.
The first incident took place on May 5, when a 19-year-old woman was attacked in the 2400 block of North Sheffield. The following day, two more assaults were reported: one in the 1200 block of North Clark involving a 26-year-old woman, and another in the 100 block of West Cermak where a 23-year-old woman was the victim.
How the left could believe this has anything to do with an illegal alien minor is beyond reason. If I didn’t know any better, I might assume the goal was to deliberately mislead the public. Regardless of intent, it doesn’t matter because the damage is done the moment a naive left-leaning viewer swallows their narrative.
Whether this girl was a citizen, a legal resident, or undocumented is irrelevant.
Whether she was perfectly law-abiding or accused of a crime is irrelevant.
A grown man kneeling on the neck of a 15-year-old girl (one who also wasn't resisting) is beyond the pale—an act…

According to Joshua Reed Eakle, who identifies as a “once on the right, now liberal” and works “for a free and open society” with Project Liberal, “Whether this girl was a citizen, a legal resident, or undocumented is irrelevant. Whether she was perfectly law-abiding or accused of a crime is irrelevant. A grown man kneeling on the neck of a 15-year-old girl (one who also wasn’t resisting) is beyond the pale—an act indefensible under any circumstance. Anyone who hasn’t lost their humanity knows this.”
There are so many things wrong with that statement, it’s unclear where to even begin.
Firstly, it does, in fact, matter what her immigration status is when accusing ICE of misusing its authority. Secondly, it matters even more if she was accused of a crime, because that means there was a victim—and that does matter. Thirdly, she clearly wasn’t complying with law enforcement orders, as shown by her screaming and refusing to follow directions. So, we can safely assume she was, in fact, resisting. Fourthly, why is holding someone accountable for alleged crimes considered worse than the actual crime? Calling this “an act indefensible under any circumstance” seems like a bit of a stretch. It certainly isn’t that extreme.
Nonetheless, in their feeble attempt to portray any ICE detainee as a victim, the left often ends up sympathizing with people accused of serious crimes. While this is unsurprising, it is a dishonest attempt to mislead the public—and that should be fully condemned.
It’s unclear if the people spreading this lie will ever retract their statements, but it’s probably safe to assume they won’t. But what else is new?
