You know how, since the dawn of "stranger danger," it has been the duty of fathers to warn their children of it? In the UK, doing so might be illegal depending on the specific stranger and how you define the danger. Telling your daughter to avoid soccer hooligans? You're in the clear. Warning them to avoid the migrant hotel full of asylum seekers who are known to get rapey? That gets you a visit and an interrogation from the police.
I suppose I should say "allegedly" because this originates from a TikTok account that steals other people's content and then shares it on X by individuals who also steal other people's stolen content on TikTok. Instead of finding the source in the comments, it's all reply guys sharing their weak-ass memes. I would have liked to see what the father who shared the video had to say about it and to get more information about this specific incident.
However, in my attempt to due my diligence, I found a September article about an asylum seeker jailed for sexual assault on teen, and an August article about a different asylum seeker who, quote, "...attempted to kiss a 14-year-old girl and told her he wanted to have a baby with her after she offered him pizza because he looked hungry." So... know what I mean?
And it's not like we haven't seen this from UK police before, and even recently:
- Police frisk, arrest woman in front of her children over posting 'offensive' comments on Twitter
- Police arrest bro for yelling "We love bacon," apparently it's illegal in the UK depending on where you're protesting
- UK police ransack home of former officer over claims of an antisemitic tweet... except it wasn't, and now he's suing
- Police overwhelm autistic teen girl, arrest her for telling cop, "you look like my nana, who's a lesbian"
- Watch: A woman getting fined for praying in the "wrong place" somehow NOT as ridiculous as the questions the cop asks first
I'm just tapping away at the keys, trying to piece together how we ended up with this police visit. A dad going for a walk with his daughter points to a building, tells her to stay away from it, and explains why. Ok. So... how does this get to the police? Surveillance cameras? A bystander witnessing it and snitching? And then the police investigated who the man is and where he lives?
Then there were the questions as the cop said this isn't an arrest but an "investigation.":
"What was your intention there?"
"Is there any other way you could have [warned her without taking her there]?"
I don't see how the police aren't embarrassed by this. If the cop was older, I could see he's going through the motions because he's close to retirement and is worried about his pension. But younger officers? You wonder how many of them know how retarded they look, versus how many agree with the mission and think citizens deserve getting arrested for having the wrong thoughts.
Pay attention, America.
