Who told California officials that it’s a good idea to provide scholarships and other educational financial assistance to foreign nationals? Because by doing that, they do realize that that means fewer Californians get to take advantage of these benefits, right?! Right?!

Nonetheless, this is why the Department of Justice had no choice but to sue the State of California for providing such benefits to non-lawful residents.

If you are surprised by this, you are not paying attention.

According to The Post Millennial:

Filed in the Eastern District of California, the complaint targets the State of California, Governor Gavin Newsom, the California Attorney General, and the governing bodies of the University of California, California State University, and the California Community Colleges. Federal officials are seeking to block the enforcement of the laws and compel the state to align its policies with federal requirements.

You may be assuming that it would not be possible for them to offer these benefits to illegals and not citizens, but unfortunately, that is not the case.

According to the Justice Department, California’s policies provide financial advantages to illegal immigrants that are not available to US citizens who reside outside the state. The complaint contends that the laws create incentives for illegal immigration and violate federal statutes governing the treatment of non-citizens.

Don't you wish that state leaders represented legal Californians in the way they do for foreign nationals? One can only dream. But in the pursuit to ensure no human is illegal, officials have punished citizens for following the law, while benefiting those who mock our laws. Funny how that works?
