As a political movement, we're still reeling from what happened to Charlie Kirk and trying to put the pieces back together. It pales in comparison to what his widow, Erika Kirk, is struggling with. Even as she suffers through something unimaginable, she still managed to inspire Americans with one simple act: forgiving the person who assassinated her husband. One specific American is actor Tim Allen.
Allen lost his father in a traffic accident when he was 11 years old, when his dad was collided with a drunk driver. He has held on to this for the last six decades, and Mrs. Kirk's words inspired him to finally let it go.
When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: “That man… that young man… I forgive him.”
That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: “ I forgive the man who killed my father.”
Peace be with you all.

I've had two grudges that I've held in my life, which I eventually forgave the people for. Both were over dumb sh*t. Nothing like what Tim Allen went through, and definitely not even close to what Erika Kirk is going through. The feeling of the weight that is lifted off your soul when you finally let it go is palpable. It's also instantaneous. One moment you're angry, and in the next, you are wondering what you were so angry about and why for so long.
Mrs. Kirk's strength inspired a seventy-two-year-old man to let go of something he's been holding onto since he was a child. If you're holding on to something yourself, you should consider doing the same.
