"If anything, my friends, it seems that you eventually need a socialist to clean up the mess."

New York City has been flirting with Socialism for quite some time. In fact, it is one of the most left-leaning cities in the entire country. Ironically, though, it is also one of the most expensive places in the world to live. This is what makes it bizarre and deeply arrogant for the mayor to claim that only a socialist can fix the mess the left created. When in reality, all this does is double down on the failed policies that destroyed a once-great city in the first place, while vowing to cause more destruction.
According to Mayor Zohran Mamdani, “it seems that you eventually need a socialist to clean up the mess." He said this as a mockery of Margaret Thatcher’s famous quote, “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”
According to the New York Post:
Mayor Zohran Mamdani threw himself a great big bash to celebrate his first 100 days in office, and even launched a website so his faithful comrades can track his “achievements” across the city — despite reneging on numerous campaign promises.
Can anyone name one thing this man has done to make New Yorkers better off? No? I didn't think so.
Hizzoner headlined his party with a speech at the 3,200-seat Knockdown Center in Queens Sunday evening, where he doubled down on vows to govern New York as a staunch socialist while his staff set up a cringey, self-congratulatory museum pop-up of his fledgling time as mayor.
“I have thought often of Margaret Thatcher’s quote: ‘The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money,’” Mamdani said. “If anything, my friends, it seems that you eventually need a socialist to clean up the mess.
I don't ever recall a Socialist coming in and making a country or people better off. And the reason I likely cannot recall such a historical event is that it has never happened in the history of the world. Undeniably, every time a Socialist gets the key to the city, people suffer. It is unclear if he is truly naive to this or if he is just an evil imbecile on a power trip, so draw your own conclusions.
“For 102 days, we have endeavored to do exactly that, delivering both public goods and public excellence,” he added. “That is the change that government can deliver, and it is the change that democratic socialism can deliver.”
That is a bit of a stretch, and it is deeply arrogant for him to claim he has made such effective accomplishments when, in reality, he has done nothing of significance. At this point, residents should be glad he has not caused as much damage as he promised, as he continues to break more and more campaign promises by the day.
