It wouldn't be an election cycle without a group of Republicans attempting to sell out the party by pushing an amnesty bill they claim isn't amnesty, even though it's totally amnesty. This cycle, it's the "Dignidad Act" because naming it in English isn't pandering enough. And it wouldn't be an amnesty bill without the sponsor, Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL), saying we need to pass the bill so that Democrats stop calling us racist.

The Dignity Act isn't just your usual amnesty. The gimmick is that it only gives amnesty to illegals who came here prior to the Peopel Who Controlled Joe Biden Admnistration. But it also increases caps to bring in more immigrants (so it doesn't just deal with the people here now), makes it harder to deport people here illegally, makes it easier for people who were deported to come back, and, my personal favorite...it forgives student loans for immigration attorneys.

And all just so, as Salazar said on Brian Kilmeade's radio show, Democrats stop calling us names.

It’s impossible if we, the Republicans, put together a bill like this one on the floor, for any Democrat with Hispanics, supposedly you know ‘Hispanics belong to the Democrats.’ No, not anymore, because right now we’re going to be demonstrating to the Dems that we are not such a bunch of racists, that we are giving them dignity, not citizenship.

What are we doing here? More importantly, what the hell is the Trump Administration doing? Trump got elected for a number of reasons, but a cornerstone was when it came to dealing with illegal immigration. We can argue about how important "mass" deportations were. But at the very least, there needed to be more of them. Or "mas" deportations, if you will. Note: while Trump was campaigning on "mas" deportations, he got a higher percentage of Hispanic voters than anyone in the GOP had in years.

Yet Trump, who has endorsed Salazar for re-election for reasons known only to him and Lindsey Graham, has yet to speak out AGAINST the Dignity Act. And there are signs the admin is wavering on increasing deportations as it is.

Donald Trump has to reject the Dignity Act TODAY. Don't tell me he's busy with Iran. He can find the time to speak out about Bruce Springsteen and share dumb memes. He can make it clear that the Dignidad Act esta muerto. Republicans are struggling to get voters to turn out thus far, and there are increasing signs of an enthusiasm gap. Now, try to get conservatives to the polls after Trump has endorsed an amnesty bill, after decades of deportations being the cornerstone of his entire political movement.

As Jesse Kelly said in the above tweet, supporters can put up with a lot of the nonsense that's required of us to put up with. Going back on his immigration, illegal or otherwise, promises is as close to a redline as you can get.
