Mayor Zohran Mamdani fired New York City Sheriff Anthony Miranda. He replaced him with Edwin Raymond. To claim the city is severely jeopardizing public safety with this appointment would be an understatement.

Here are just some of his asinine takes on policing in America.

Yeah, to call this guy a leftist lunatic would be putting it lightly. Not only does he create problems that don't exist, but he offers nothing to uphold public safety, which is the point of his job.

Miranda believes that policing is inherently racist. He claims this because he believes enforcement quotas disproportionately affect black and brown communities. The problem with this claim is that it makes no sense. Enforcing the law is not racist. It has nothing to do with skin color. And if there were a systemic issue where officers were targeting people based on skin color, we would have more evidence than vague, ambiguous claims of invisible issues that no one can accurately convey or comprehend.

He is also a proponent of critical race theory. Thus, it is safe to conclude this will be the way he shapes policy in the department. Subsequently, we can expect officers to not enforce the law if it disproportionately affects people of a certain skin color. Again, the fact that this man was prompted to uphold public safety, but turns the ones enforcing the law into criminals, tells you all you need to know about the direction the department is headed.

Some people break the law. Those people should be held accountable. The fact that the left finds this controversial because of something to do with slavery over 100 years ago is totally asinine. It is incomprehensible that more people do not have a problem with this.
