It’s unclear how assaulting officers with a sandwich protects the rights of immigrants, but one man who was accused of doing just that got off on misdemeanor charges after he threw his Subway sandwich at ICE agents.

“That night, I believe that I was protecting the rights of immigrants,” he said to cameras after being acquitted by a jury.

According to CBS:

A man who was charged with throwing a sandwich at a federal agent was found not guilty of one count of misdemeanor assault after a jury trial in Washington, D.C.

The acquittal of the man, Sean Dunn, comes after federal prosecutors failed to secure a felony indictment against him from a grand jury in Washington in the immediate aftermath of the incident. He instead faced a federal misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, intimidating and interfering with a federal officer.

According to charging documents, Dunn threw a "submarine-style sandwich" at a Customs and Border Patrol officer stationed at a busy intersection in Northwest Washington in August. The incident was widely publicized and quickly became a symbol of resistance against President Trump's federal policing crackdown and National Guard deployment in the nation's capital, which is now in its third month.

What did he think was going to be solved by acting this way? Did he think that by calling law enforcement officers “Fascist” he would somehow open the borders back up? And the constant screaming of “shame” makes it so much more pathetic.

It’s also unclear what “immigrants” he was supposedly protecting, considering he was the one bothering the agents, but that is neither here nor there.

The left has proven just how emboldened they feel when it comes to harassing agents, and it needs to end yesterday. Some humans are illegal, and the sooner they realize that, the better off everyone will be.
