If you are a celebrity, I just assume we have different political opinions. I judge it based on a) how big of a dick are you about it, and b) how much you sound like you hate the half of the country who disagrees with you. For a while, Russell Brand was on the wrong side of that equation. I'm sure we still disagree on a lot, but lately, we can find common ground on big things. Like free speech, what a twat Brian Stelter is, and just how colossally Justin "I Feel Pretty" Trudeau permanently damaged his own country and set frightening precedence for other countries to follow.

Let's recap. Because with Putin's invasion of Ukraine, the Freedom Convoy feels like it happened years ago. Citizens decided to peacefully protest against Justin Trudeau's actions. Canada's walking pile of soy and hair goop had his feelings hurt because so many people had a different opinion than him. He invoked the Emergencies Act, which allowed him to freeze personal bank accounts, compel businesses to act against their fellow Canadians, and basically declare martial law. Parliament had a week to authorize the act, but Trudeau got his emergency powers right away. Personal bank accounts were frozen right away.

On Monday, PM Dildeau announced that any member of parliament who didn't approve his emergency act hated democracy. Parliament upheld the act and Trudeau's powers that he said he needed in case more protests happened. Then, on Wednesday, Justin declared... "Ackshually, I don't need them anymore." I'm guessing he looked at poll numbers and was surprised people felt he was the baddie.

The damage is still done. By declaring the people were revolting and stunk on ice--Trudeau in the past had called them "unacceptable" and said they "took up space"--Trudeau was able to isolate a class of citizens and take away their civil liberties. This was Canada, not Russia.

Americans, Brits, Australians... really, everyone on the planet needs to ask themselves what, if anything, is stopping their leaders from doing the exact same thing. Trudeau didn't just damage Canada.
