At one point in American history, there was no income tax. Ironically, Americans even fought a war after a three-cent tax per pound on tea. Many gave their lives defending the principle of “no taxation without representation.” Today, it’s hard to argue that our representatives truly represent us. That’s why it seems unusual that so many Americans fight to raise taxes instead of resisting them. One of those voices is Joy Reid.
A video of Joy Reid is making the rounds online after she warned about the MAGA agenda, claiming conservatives would prefer a society with no income tax, no inheritance tax, and fewer business regulations. How any of that is supposed to be a bad thing is unclear, but Reid appears genuinely alarmed by such an “agenda.”
Who would have guessed that we now live in a time where people are begging the government to take more of their hard-earned money, simply because Trump equals Hitler? You really can’t rationalize that level of delusion.
What’s so bad about “earning as much as you want”? How can she justify opposing that? Even more absurd is that she seems to think she has the right to decide where your money goes—despite not earning it herself.
I don’t have to explain why keeping more of your hard-earned money is objectively a good thing, especially given how ineffective our leadership has become. One could even argue that we would be better off with no income tax, considering that “more money, more problems” seems even truer in the eyes of Congress. Yet Reid has completely missed the mark here. But then again, what else is new?
