One of the many, many problems with leftist elected officials is that they spend hundreds of millions of dollars to pretend to get to the “root cause” of homelessness. And the reason this is a problem is that the “root cause” is so painfully obvious. When the left spends this much money to try to figure things out, that is evidence that the bureaucracy never intends to fix the issue. Many leftists in office pretend they have no clue why many major cities in America have zombies running away -- when they know very well it has everything to do with drug addiction and/or severe mental health issues, and nothing to do with these people lacking housing.

Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman believes she knows a thing or two about homelessness. She likes to pretend she will put a dent in the homeless problem if elected to office. This is easily disproven by the fact that she was appointed Chair of the Housing and Homelessness Committee in 2022 and has done nothing to get these people off the street. It is unclear if she truly is that stupid and believes that the cause of homelessness has yet to be discovered or if she is just an evil leftist whose last priority is fixing the issue -- so draw your own conclusions.

Again, these people act clueless as to why the problem exists. When in reality, it has everything to do with officials ignoring the “root cause.” According to Mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, the policies the city has implemented make everyone unsafe. And that over 90% of homeless people are addicted to drugs. That is all you need to know when it comes to fixing the issue, but for some reason, the left ignores this.

"The reality is, no matter how many beds you give these people, they are on super meth," Pratt continued. "They are on fentanyl. The DEA statistic says 93% of this is a drug addiction problem. I will go below the Harbor Freeway tomorrow with [Raman] and we can find some of these people she's going to offer treatment for. She's going to get stabbed in the neck."

According to a column in the Heritage Foundation written by Christopher Rufo:

In order to reduce homelessness, policymakers at all levels must understand that chronic and long-term homelessness is not primarily a housing problem—it is a human problem. According to a 2019 report from the University of California Los Angeles analyzing data from 64,000 surveys, 75 percent of the unsheltered homeless have substance-abuse disorders, 78 percent have mental health disorders, and 84 percent have physical health conditions.6

In other words, the problem has nothing to do with these people succumbing to bad luck and everything to do with mental health and drug abuse disorders. Why does the left continue to ignore these facts?

When a leftist politician tells you they intend to fix the problem by getting to the root cause or studying the phenomenon, that almost always means they have no intent of fixing anything -- so do not be surprised when things get exponentially worse. And that is exactly what will happen if Karen Bass or Raman is elected.

The homelessness crisis is one of the most infuriating self-inflicted problems the left has gifted Americans, and the fact that voters don't realize that it is the left that has caused it only makes everything 10 times worse.
