Watch: John C. Reilly lashes out at Elon Musk, should stick with thoughts someone else writes for him

John C. Reilly has said a thing or two about the “right wing” and “human rights. Today’s show breaks down how he completely misrepresented Elon Musk and his opinions on suicidal empathy.
John C. Reilly has a very different view of empathy than Elon Musk.
“Ironically, by trying to make Elon Musk sound selfish, he makes the hedonistic leftist argument,” Crowder said.
During a recent interview with the "It's Open with Ilana Glazer" podcast, the Oscar-nominated actor — famous for his silver-screen roles in "Chicago" and "Talladega Nights" — argued that empathy is a core trait that makes humans uniquely good.
"Empathy is not a trap — empathy is a superpower," he said, referencing Musk's previous criticism of empathy. "It's what makes human beings exceptional, our ability to look outside of ourselves. We're not an alligator trying to just get the next fish."
“Empathy absent of moral judgement will become a super evil. That is the point Elon Musk and we have made. It is not ‘just do what is best for you.’ He said we need to do what is best for society because you can't just be empathic towards everyone. You cannot be empathic to a rape victim at the same time as a rapist. They tried it in the UK, and it does not work. You cannot be empathic towards the American taxpayer as well as illegal aliens who take far more than they contribute,” Crowder said.
According to Reilly, it makes him feel good to stand up for everyone no matter what.
“The reason it falls apart is that it has no moral backbone to it,” Crowder said, adding that the emphasis of the argument made by Musk is on “civilizational suicidal empathy.”
“He was talking about as a civilization, if we empathize and promote the wrong thing, we will cease to be a nation even capable of the luxury of empathy,” Crowder added.
