It is not unheard of to see news outlets run their opinions as fact. And when you combine that with the left’s blatant bigotry against Christians and Conservatives, you get this story.
The FBI is investigating threats made against schools in Western Pennsylvania, including the Diocese of Pittsburgh. However, WTAE has declared these threats to be a "hoax" even though the FBI said no such thing and is still investigating.
According to WTAE,
The FBI is investigating numerous threats of violence communicated to schools and houses of worship in Western PA over the last 48 hours.
The Diocese of Pittsburgh said a school received two concerning emails through the area of their website where people can request a tour. The diocese immediately shared those emails with diocesan security officers, local police, and the FBI. Officers are being stationed at schools that have been the targets of these emails.
However, the term “hoax” was used four times throughout the article to describe these threats, even though the outlet decided that on its own.
“The FBI is aware of numerous threats of violence communicated to schools and houses of worship in Western Pennsylvania over the last 48 hours…While we have no information to indicate a specific and credible threat, we continue to partner with local law enforcement to investigate threat information as it comes to our attention…We urge the public to remain vigilant, and report any and all suspicious activity and/or individuals to law enforcement immediately…”
By declaring this as a “hoax”, Christians in Pennsylvania may not remain as vigilant as they should be.
“The @FBI never said these threats were a “hoax” @WTAE - this is your opinion. Absolutely insane. Christians in Pennsylvania should be on HIGH ALERT!” Crowder wrote on X.
It is important to not fearmonger and instill anxiety in people more than is necessary. But it’s equally crucial to not dismiss or downplay threats by throwing in terms like “hoax” before the FBI has even finished its investigation.
Discarding threats made against places of worship is reckless and foolish and it's baffling that was not obvious to this media outlet.
