Philadelphia Police Clarify 'Not Arresting People' Over Coronavirus [VIDEO]
Everyone has a different opinion on how best to handle the coronavirus and specifically handling the spread of it. Some ideas are more helpful than others (see FINALLY! HHS Declares Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency and Elizabeth Warren wants to Fight Coronavirus by Opening the Borders). One of the less helpful ideas that recently went viral was the Philadelphia Police Department no longer arresting people for anything short of murder. They've had to clarify that isn't exactly the case.
FOX 29's Steve Keeley reports the nonviolent crimes include the following:
- All narcotics offenses
- Theft from persons
- Retail theft
- Theft from auto
- Burglary
- Vandalism
- All bench warrants
- Stolen auto
- Economic crimes
- Prostitution

You see, it's not that they are NOT arresting them. They're just not arresting them right now. The criminals are being stopped from doing their criminal ways, then sent off on their merry way, to be dealt with at a later date. So it's not quite The Purge it's just The Purge for the non-violent, horny, addicted thieving types. If you're worried about being murdered, you're just paranoid. If you're worried about being robbed, well. Screw you, the po-po don't want to take extra precautious like wearing gloves to protect that which belongs to you. Besides, how dare you have something worth stealing. Don't you know there's a panic afoot and media is here to make it worse?
Maybe it's me, but I don't find the clarification to make things that much better.
