Why does this story sound so familiar?

Damon Johnson was arrested on Tuesday after he set a homeless man on fire. He was on parole because he committed robbery before this alleged attempted murder. Before that robbery, he had 131 prior offenses. It’s unclear why the justice system didn't realize that after the fifth time, or 10th time, or 50th time, or 100th time, or 130th time, that he was a risk to public safety, but draw your own conclusions.

According to ABC 7:

A second person is facing charges after a 37-year-old homeless man was set on fire outside of Penn Station in New York City.

47-year old-Damon Johnson of Brooklyn and 33-year-old Lyla Najjar of Queens were arrested in connection with the arson attack.

The victim was sleeping or lying in an old taxiway when two men and a woman approached him just before 9 p.m. on Monday.

That is how pathetic and evil this man is. He not only attacked a vulnerable homeless man, but he did it while the man was sleeping. And the worst part is that this appears to be objectively random. This makes it so much more unsettling.

The victim suffered second and third-degree burns and was taken to the hospital. Subsequently, his life will be forever changed because progressives allowed a lunatic with 131 convictions back on the street. You cannot make this type of insanity up.

Interesting how the left always pretends to help the “unhoused,” but they always seem worse off under their regimes. Why do you think that is?

"You look up above the escalator, there's a gentleman on fire, flames completely engulfed, he's running back and forth trying to get it out, people are trying to pat him down," said witness Sam Stallone.

Johnson was caught on camera crouching and leaning over the victim for some time before walking away.

Police believe he set the victim's jacket on fire.

The psycho pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment. Hopefully, though, if he is found guilty, the left will lock him up for good.

Why does the left continue to subject the public to this type of evil social experiment? We get it — they hate jails — but these policies are causing preventable harm, and that has no place in America.

To make America great again, we must make crime illegal. Unclear when the left will get that message, but they won't hesitate to destroy more lives in that process. The fact that they believe they are on the side of progress is a slap in the face to justice everywhere.
