Pete Buttigieg: We Should Stop Celebrating Thomas Jefferson
Lefties are hellbent on cleansing all the "problematic" people and events from American history. With most of the Confederate statues taken care of, leftists are turning their attention to the founding fathers. Presidential candidate and Mad Magazine kid lookalike Pete Buttigieg is setting his sights on Thomas Jefferson.
For reals:
Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg says Americans should not be honoring Thomas Jefferson by naming some events after the founding father.“Over time, you develop and evolve on the things you choose to honor … Jefferson is more problematic.Buttigieg acknowledged that “we are all morally conflicted human beings” and said he doesn’t think Jefferson should be airbrushed from history, but he believes commemorating the author of the Declaration of Independence is something else.
In other words, we still have permission to like Thomas Jefferson. For the time being, at least. Though, we're expressly forbidden from thinking of him in a positive light. We're allowed to acknowledge the man, but only in a neutral or negative manner.
Look, nobody's perfect, but holding historical figures to 2019 standards of conduct is straight out of Crazytown. Not to mention, Jefferson did a lot more good than bad. T-Jeffs was the architect of the U-S-of-A. He literally wrote the book scroll on what it means to be an American. Yet, now we're supposed to deny him any props for doing so.
Once lefties successfully destroy our history and culture, it's easier to destroy everything else. "Progressives" can replace every Thomas Jefferson statue with a George Jefferson statue. People are gonna keep right on paying their respects to Papa Tom. We're not about to be told who we can and can't honor.
Speaking of lefties trying to revise history:
