Report: A New York Times Staffer Allegedly Appeared Naked On A Zoom Call With "Top Editors"
This story is giving 2020 lockdown Jeffrey Toobin vibes. The only difference is that this person "accidentally flashed her colleagues" and it was not a situation where you would say a chicken has been choked. Ew. Okay. Let's discuss what allegedly happened.
"The incident occurred in the midst of the newspaper's online morning editorial news meeting, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to The Messenger. An editor noticed someone walking on camera without a stitch of clothes on and quickly removed them from the call, the person said.
The unidentified female journalist apparently did not know their camera was on.
The person familiar with the matter characterized the incident as unintentional mishap."
It is unclear how the conversation went down after her supervisor presumably told the staffer she was a bit underdressed for a "professional" environment. I understand it was a mistake but it just does not sit right with me that she decided to virtually engage with her colleagues naked. Why would she do that? Did people not learn anything from the Panny D?
I am sure she will have to come up with every Toobin excuse in the book. She will probably say she just "made an embarrassingly stupid mistake", believing she "was off-camera." And that she thought she was "not visible on Zoom." She assumed "no one on the Zoom call could see" her and that she thought she "had muted the Zoom video.”
That said, I am not surprised this happened to a "top NYT journalist." It is a fact that "journalists" are stupid drunks. There is data that proves this.
According to Business Insider:
"Journalists' brains show a lower-than-average level of executive functioning, according to a new study, which means they have a below-average ability to regulate their emotions, suppress biases, solve complex problems, switch between tasks, and show creative and flexible thinking."
It is no secret that journalists are getting dumber and the quality has been on the decline for quite some time now. And for goodness sake, can people please stop jumping on Zoom calls naked? Is that really too much to ask?
