California passed the "Stop Nick Shirley Act," a law making it illegal for unauthorized undercover and/or independent journalists to expose allies of the left for fraud (I'm paraphrasing). Nick Shirley, the undercover rouser of rabble the law is named after, held a rally to speak out against it, where a New York Times reporter asked him what the big deal was.

The big deal is that the law states that if a reporter covers a story and someone acts in a mean or illegal way toward the person the story was about, the reporter is criminally negligent.

If you go expose a learing center where there's no kids at the daycare, they receive $1.9 million, and it just opens up a whole entire fraud ring, and then I expose it, a bunch of other people come in, and let's say somebody paintballs the building - they cause fear for that building. And then you're responsible for the actions of a third party. But that fraud was real. So it completely breaks the trust and the amendment of the freedom of the press by putting other crimes on another person for reporting the truth. People said the Minnesota fraud wasn't true for a long time, and now we're seeing that people are being arrested each and every single week...

Minnesota, they are threatening to arrest the undercover reporters who exposed the fraud.

When Shirley explained it slowly enough for the NYT reporter to understand, she went silent. Not only could the Stop Nick Shirley Act stop Nick Shirley, but it could also stop reporters who are not Nick Shirley. At least, in theory. It's California where there is a two-tier justice system depending on whether you're useful to the left or not.

This is the same state that in 2017, David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were undercover reporters who exposed discussions of fees for human fetal tissue and organs. AKA, what we assumed Planned Parenthood was doing all along (besides the whole abortion factory thing). Instead of investigating, the attorney general launched an investigation into DALEiDEN AND MERRITT.

The attorney general... Kamala Harris.

She was replaced by the attorney general... Xavier Baccera, who filed the felony charges. Daledien was forced to plead no contest eight years later. I'm guessing so that Baccera could launch his gubernatorial campaign.

Sure, in theory, a left-wing journalismer would be safe in California. Because a left-wing journalismer would never investigate anything that could reflect poorly on the left-wing politicians who run California. Or any other area run by left-wing politicians. Like, say, if a left-wing journalismer's reporting on a Supreme Court decision led to people threatening to murder a conservative Supreme Court Justice.

The problem is that California was in such a rush to write a law to protect people committing taxpayer-funded fraud, it was written in a way that would affect all journalists. And not just Nick Shirley.
