MSNBC Host Praises Illinois Gun Laws Despite High Murder Rate
With the recent shooting in Aurora, Illinois, lefties are back in gun-grabbing mode. If you need proof, look no further than this MSNBC host who tried presenting anti-gun Illinois as preferable to boomstick-friendly Texas. Despite Texas' murder rate being significantly lower.
See for yourself:
On Saturday's MSNBC Live, weekend anchor Richard Lui provided an unchallenged forum for 17-year-old Houston city council candidate Marcel McClinton to advocate for more gun control.
The MSNBC host also suggested that Illinois is better off than Texas because it has more stringent gun laws and a higher grade from an anti-gun group, but he did not notice that the murder rate for Illinois in recent years has been significantly higher than in Texas.
As the MSNBC host lauded Illinois for being awarded a better grade than Texas from the anti-gun group, he did not mention that the murder rate for Texas is actually significantly lower than it is for Illinois (5.3 versus 8.2 per 100,000 in 2016), and the overall violent crime rate, while very close, is slightly lower in Texas.
Yep, MSNBC host guy is dumping on the Lone Star State, despite it performing better than Illinois in terms of homicide. I'm sure that blindness has nothing to do with Texas being traditionally red.
Despite having some of the strictest gun laws, Chicago is the perfect place to go if you're trying to get turned into Swiss cheese. When you confront the lefties with that fact, they claim it's because Chicagoans go out of state to buy their gats. There's two problems with that. One, you can't purchase a handgun out of state. Two, if gun availability is the problem, why isn't Texas' murder rate higher?
Lefties don't seem to bother checking if their anti-gun laws actually work. Texas, one of the most gun-friendly states around, has less murder than anti-gat Illinois. Which suggests to me the guns aren't really the problem. The left might wanna go back to the drawing board and choose another strategy. This one's a complete bust.
