Milwaukee Police Bends Knee, Forced To Hide Victims’ Gender After Claims Of ‘Misgendering’

The Milwaukee Police Department has instituted a new policy requiring that victims' races and genders not be disclosed to the public, after previous instances of ‘misgendering transgender’ crime victims came under fire by trans activists.
"To maintain both the privacy and dignity of crime victims, their families and loved ones, the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) will no longer proactively report out to the community victim information related to gender or race," Milwaukee Police Department officials said last week
Milwaukee ranks third for violent crimes nationwide, but this is what they are focusing on.
The MPD's chief of staff, Heather Hough, called the policy change "a way to preserve the dignity and privacy of all victims."
"MPD wants to ensure the best service possible for our entire community," Hough added.
How does withholding information like that provide the best service for the community? One person complains so the entire department will now hide data. Can someone make sense of that?
MPD LGBTQ liaison Sgt. Guadalupe Velasquez told local outlet TMJ4 that she approached leadership in May for a change in policy after misgendering a transgender victim.
I cannot believe the department actually wastes money on an LGBT liaison.
"We don't want to make a traumatic experience for a family worse," Velasquez told TMJ4.
When asked whether the department's previous "misgendering" of trans-identifying victims has "hurt the LGBTQ community," Velasquez replied, "Based on the conversations I had, yes."
"It was something that was a topic that led to some uncomfortable conversations for me where some of the organizations were like, we're not willing to work with the police department because clearly, you don't have respect for us," she told the news outlet.
This person has literally nothing to do so she goes and stirs up trouble based on one conversation.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the department misgendered three Black transgenders who were killed in the city last year in initial press releases that were cited in media reports.
So because a couple people complained the department is now going to change a policy that withholds information from the general public. Because that totally makes so much sense.
The MPD will still release a person’s race and gender if they are a suspect in a crime.
The policy was labeled a "terrible idea" by a Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council leader, which is a nonpartisan group dedicated to promoting transparent government practices.
"Does the public really not have a right to know if minorities, for instance, are disproportionately victims of crime?" Bill Lueders, president of the Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council, asked in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Does it not have the right to know if people are being killed because of their gender?"
He stressed that a crime victim’s race and gender are often important in homicides, especially when it comes to hate crimes.
A 17 year old was wounded in a shooting on Saturday and this is what the City is focusing on. Really? They don’t have better things to do?
If there is one thing Democrats know what to do, it is waste time on nonissues so they can virtue signal instead of dealing with actual problems.
Milwaukee has not had a Republican mayor since 1908. So we shouldn’t be surprised that this is the pressing issue that the City decides to address.
