NEW from me
In a 2021 podcast appearance Cea Weaver said her goal was to make New York City housing "worth less" through the use of rent control

While many people can agree that the worth of homes has grown at an exponentially high rate, especially when compared to other parts of the economy, it’s still bizarre to want to destroy that market or, at the very least, have it be “worth less.” Unsurprisingly, this was once exactly the goal of Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s housing czar, Cea Weaver.
In a May 2021 podcast, Weaver said, “Our goal is to have the housing actually be worth less,” adding that, “They need to be rent-controlled, and the reason why they need to be rent-controlled is not that, like, rent control is inherently socialist, but because rent control limits the speculative value of the land.”
So, if she does not genuinely care about rent control and she does not care about the housing market, what does she care about? Is that something she can even answer? Likely not.
What she does seem to care about is making everyone worse off.
Do you think it’s just a coincidence that New York City has some of the most radical rent control policies in the country, yet is also one of the most expensive places to live in the world? Do you think it’s just a coincidence that, while the rent is controlled, housing in that city is only something afforded by the ultra-luxury?
At this point, she’s not even choosing one side over the other or trying to help the little guy; she is actively trying to make this world a worse place for everyone, and the fact that the left pretends things like this are compassionate is deeply pathetic.
According to The Washington Free Beacon:
Mamdani, then a relatively unknown state assemblyman, offered his new housing czar effusive praise.
"I get most of my knowledge on housing from Cea, so if you get it from me, it's just not coming from the source," he cooed.
Mamdani’s decision to tap Weaver as head of his Office to Protect Tenants has already resulted in scandal for his young administration. She denounced private property and homeownership as "weapon[s] of white supremacy" in a since-deleted 2019 post on X, and called to "impoverish the *white* middle class"—arguing that "homeownership is racist"—in other posts.
Why is she so obsessed with homeownership, or her goal to make it unattainable? Why does she care so much? Why is she such a miserable person? Again, these are answers she will likely never be able to provide, but we can almost be certain that everyone—and I mean everyone—will be worse off.
Well, not everyone.
Not only will this significantly decrease the number of mom-and-pop landlords in the city, but it will embolden big corporations. So, when they claim they are all in it for the little guy, the only ones they are helping are massive corporations that already have a monopoly in the housing market.
Weird how, when the left claims they are here to help you, they actually embolden the ones they pretend to fight against. Why do you think that is?
That being said, as the left would say, “hey, hey, ho, ho, Weaver has got to go.”
