Madami hires new chief "equity" officer, but was smart enough to have her delete her social media history first

Today, I appointed Afua Atta-Mensah as the Chief Equity Officer and Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Equity & Racial Justice.
Afua has dedicated her career to serving the New Yorkers who are so often forgotten in the halls of power. In this new role, she will advance that… pic.twitter.com/rNxfAsPgH8

When you have something to hide, you tend to hide that thing. Unclear what Afua Atta-Mensah is trying to conceal from the public, but she has learned from others' mistakes. When you say reprehensible things and promote asinine policies, the people don't tend to like that. That is why she has decided to learn from the mistakes of Cea Weaver, who was named director of the Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants.
Weaver said some things in her past that most sensible people would not find sensible. This includes her stance that homeownership is somehow akin to White supremacy. This is a problem because part of the American dream is to own a home. The internet had no choice but to reveal what was said, as the people deserve to know who the mayor is appointing to these positions.
Again, if you have nothing to hide, then you wouldn't delete your social media. So, it begs the question: what does Atta-Mensah have to hide? We can certainly assume a lot, because you don't get appointed to lead the city in equitable positions if you have moderate or appealing views.
According to the New York Post:
Afua Atta-Mensah’s X account was deactivated by a press announcement of her appointment on Thursday afternoon in a move that comes after other Mamdani appointees’ social media footprints set off firestorms.
“Afua Atta-Mensah has dedicated her career to serving the New Yorkers who are so often forgotten in the halls of power,” Mamdani said in a statement. “There is no one I trust more to advance racial equity across our work in City Hall.”
Atta-Mensah, who had worked on Mamdani’s campaign focusing on trying to make headway with black voters. She’ll now serve as commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for Equity and Racial Justice, in which she will be charged with pushing for more racial equity across city government, City hall said.
What exactly does it mean to lead the city in racial equity? The city is already extremely diverse, and it’s unclear what race or group of people they will prioritize. Still, we can almost be certain that the ones who will be put last are the majority of the population.
When your framework is guided by morality, you don't go into hiding. Time will only tell if the internet does its thing and exposes what needs to be exposed, as when you don't want to be exposed, you delete things.
New York City has got a lot of problems, and the last thing it needs to focus on is equity, but because the left cannot dedicate its time to things that benefit the people, this is the best it can do. Pathetic, yet deeply unsurprising.
