New York Post
is reporting Dontral Beaver, 16; Gianni Robinson, 17; Damien Hernandez, 17, and Treavion Randolph, 16, are facing murder charges in connection with Lewis's death.
In Nevada, a case is automatically moved to the adult system if a 16-year-old or 17-year-old is charged with murder, referred to in the court system as certification.
A Judge can certify children over the age of 14 as adults for any felony offense, including murder, though the process is not automatic, according to the outlet.
Two other suspects are still at large.
Jonathan Lewis Jr. died while being treated at University Medical Center for injuries he suffered from the beatdown. His father Jonathan Lewis Sr., tells the
Las Vegas Review-Journal
his son was sticking up for one of his smaller friends. According to Lewis Jr.'s girlfriend, he was attempting to get back his smaller friend's stolen property after that smaller friend was thrown in a trash can.
“A couple (of people) attacked him, and they weren’t able to hurt him enough, and they all attacked him at once ... [My son] was a loving, giving, kind, fierce young man who loved community and caring for others.”

Lewis Sr. told
a local news outlet
: “I think there’s just a failure of all of humanity to recognize that we need to be teaching our youth how to coexist."
"A true warrior would never cowardly beat one person just because the two or three members of the group couldn’t beat the one warrior, a true warrior would let the others learn and grow."
After the incident, there were calls on social media to charge the youths involved in Jonathan's death with a hate crime as well as with murder charges.
In a GoFundMe page
set up to help with funeral costs
, Jonathan Lewis Jr. was described as a "kind, loving, gentle young man who has the heart of a champion and the brightest loving energy that attracts people to him with love."
