TalkTV host Julia Hartley-Brewer refused to acquiesce to the demands of a woman who claimed she had plural pronouns. And the guest's response is even funnier than you might think.
TalkTV host Julia Hartley-Brewer clashes with journalist Shivani Dave after Dave accused the host of misgendering.
Brewer’s interview with Dave started when the latter introduced themselves and their pronouns.
The TalkTV host immediately hit back at the journalist's pronoun announcement, saying she would refer to Dave as she or her.
In her greeting, journalist Shivani Dave announced her “preferred pronouns,” which are they/them, before the interview even started.
"You can choose your pronouns, you can choose what you want to call yourself, but you don’t get to require me to use incorrect grammar and factually incorrect things. You're not a plural, you're one person, and you're a female person, so I will use she and her, thank you very much,” Hartley-Brewer responded.
However, they/them wants you to know that they/them is a very “special nonbinary person.” Emphasizing the “special.”
"I'm a very special, non-binary, trans person. You chose to use the incorrect pronouns for me,” Dave said.
To they/thems credit, they/them was not that disrespectful. However, that does not make this any more comical or less worthy of condemnation.
We should never reluctantly give in to the incorrect use of grammar to “affirm” someone's feelings that they/them cannot adequately explain.
This woman is as special as much as any other guy or they/them. Just because someone believes they are worthy of their own “special” pronouns, does not make them more important than anyone else.
But the most annoying thing is that a “preferred pronoun” is the true definition of misgendering. Yet most of these people suffer from psychological projection and blame us for that.
Just like I don’t get to demand the world acquiesce to my demands of “preferred adjectives” the gender-bender bandwagon does not get to do that with pronouns.
But just in case anyone cares, my preferred adjectives are “brilliant” and "beautiful” and I would appreciate it if that is how you describe me as that would affirm my truth.
