Jasmine Crockett is taking her role as the de facto leader of the Democrat Party on the road in an attempt to influence the Michigan Governor's race. Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist wants to drop the "Lt" part of his job title, and has enlisted Crockett to help him with a cringe TikTok video that just looks like two olds trying too hard.
You can trust me on this. We can smell our own.
Side note: Remember when Crockett's colleagues said she felt her being a big deal on TikTok should have made her head of the Oversight Committee in what was supposed to be a puff piece, and she tried to have the puff piece taken down? Ah, good times.
Also, good times were when staffers leaked to the press, "She is focused almost exclusively on being an influencer, not a member of Congress."
In this video of shameless pandering, Crockett and Gilcrist take part in the latest TikTok craze, where two people stand back-to-back. One sings 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up?," and the other sings Nikki Minaj's "Beez in the Trap." I thought we all agreed after the 90s that we were never going to speak of 4 Non Blondes again. Then my niece asked if I heard of that song that goes "scream from the top of my lungs what's going on" and here we are.
I'm not going to do the pearl-clutching thing or carry on about how this is a "disgrace." If people want to spend bandwidth taking something so silly that seriously, I guess that's a choice. I just have a question. When in the history of old people hopping on young people's trends has it ever not been cringe?

Croockett and Gilchrist are both in their 40s. They might as well be boomers as far as the Zoomers they are attempting to appeal to are concerned. Is there a single voter anywhere in the United States of America who would watch this video and not roll their eyes, let alone say they are inspired to vote?
If so, they shouldn't.
