The government shutdown is nearly over. Well, at least until January. Leftists now appear to be blaming the Democrats. Today’s show breaks this down.
The vote will pave the way for consideration later this week of a legislative package that would fund the Department of Agriculture and the FDA, the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects, and the operations of Congress for all of current fiscal year — the product of months of bipartisan, bicameral negotiations between top appropriators.
As part of the deal, Democratic negotiators agreed to ensure at least eight members from their caucus would approve procedural motions to advance the government funding package. There are still additional steps before the Senate can pass the funding deal, but Sunday’s vote sent a strong signal that Senate GOP leaders now have the necessary support in their chamber to pass legislation to end the longest shutdown in history.
Many leftists, including Don Lemon, Sunny Hostin, Bernie Sanders, and many others, are upset that the Dems have "caved." This means while they once blamed the Republicans for the shutdown, they now are blaming the Democrats for voting to open it back up. You truly cannot win with these people.
As you likely know, the shutdown was specifically about Obamacare subsidies, and the left demanded these subsidies be expanded, as the bill would have allowed them to expire at the end of the year.
“Obamacare was BS from the start. It was a Trojan horse,” Crowder said.
In 2009, Obama, along with other Democrats, claimed that you would be able to keep your plan and doctor and nothing would change.
“When the left says, ‘Hey, if you like this, we are not going to affect you.’ What they mean is as long as everything on the power of this issue aligns with everything that we want and demand,” Crowder said. “They mean as long as you step in line.”
The Affordable Care Act forced insurance companies to change their coverage, and the Obamacare-compliant plans made it so that many doctors could not keep their old practices. Additionally, many doctors resorted to cash-only practices because they did not want to deal with the paperwork, on top of more doctors refusing to take Medicaid.
“Plenty of people, as a result, lost their doctor,” Crowder said.
When an industry tends to rapidly increase in price and that increase does not align with the market, it almost always is a result of government intervention.
So, while the cost was high, they certainly were not doubling.
“In the same period of time, where healthcare costs have more than doubled for the average American, the cost of a 50-inch TV has been cut in half,” Crowder said. “I am not saying these are of equal importance; I am saying that it reflects a marketplace where the consumer and the provider dictate the price.”
