We still live in a free country. This means that when living under a de facto communist municipality, you have the freedom to leave. While this is unfortunately not true for people living under Socialist regimes in foreign nations, Americans are a bit more fortunate.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is a communist. Communists like to take money from innocent people and give it to those who do not deserve it. The problem with this is that people don't like being robbed by the government. This is why it is not surprising that many of those who have the means to leave NYC will do just that. In fact, so many people have fled this communist city that Florida officials thought it was best to name Mamdani as “Economic Developer of the Year.”

LOL. This might be putting it lightly.

According to the New York Post:

Florida business boosters are trolling New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in the heart of Times Square — thanking him for sending jobs, companies and wealthy residents south as the Sunshine State looks to capitalize on a years-long migration of New Yorkers.

The Florida Chamber of Commerce on Monday unveiled a digital billboard at Broadway and West 43rd Street naming Mamdani Florida’s “Economic Developer of the Year” and declaring: “Thanks for the jobs!”

If you have a problem with this level of trolling, then you are likely a communist.

“We wanted to thank him for the jobs, the companies, the people that they’re pushing out of New York — and a lot of them are coming to Florida,” Florida Chamber CEO Mark Wilson told Fox News Digital.

According to Fox 5, “According to the report, the city lost 12,000 residents between June 2024 and July 2025, reversing gains of 70,000 people in 2023 and 163,000 in 2024.”

We can only assume that 2026 will see similar, if not worse, numbers, as the mayor does very little to attract new residents and economic growth.

Additionally, Florida “grew by 196,700 between 2024 and 2025, the second most among all states.”

There is a reason that NYC, a place where Socialist policies have wreaked havoc for years and years, forces residents to flee, while Florida, arguably one of the most business-friendly states in the nation, continues to see growth. The numbers do not lie and tell you all you need to know.
