F35 Conspiracy Breakdown: What Really Happened to America's $100M Jet?
The United States Military said that it has located the wreckage of a $100 million F-35 fighter jet that crashed over the weekend in South Carolina after a malfunction forced the pilot to eject himself from the aircraft.
There have been several conspiracy theories surrounding this issue. Today’s show breaks some of those down.
Joint Base Charleston said Sunday on social media that efforts were underway to locate the jet with the help of Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort following a “mishap” and asked for the public’s help in finding the stealth fighter.
“He's unsure of where his plane crashed, said he just lost it in the weather,” someone can be heard saying of the pilot on audio from a Charleston County Emergency Medical Services call.
The aircraft was not found until the next day, when a state law enforcement helicopter located the jet and debris in a field near Indiantown, South Carolina.
One conspiracy theory claims that the jet was shot down by local militia using small arms weapons.
"This may have been started by leftists because they may actually think you can take down an F-35 with an AR-15,” Steven said.
Another conspiracy theory claims that directed energy weapons may have taken down the jet.
"I do not understand this one because the plane flew on for 60 additional miles. Maybe it is the worst directed energy weapon ever, or we have the most trigger happy pilot ever to get out of the plane,” Gerald A said.
That one is also likely not true.
Andrew Tate has implied that the jet may have been hacked by the Chinese after the pilot ejected himself and was diverted to Cuba.
In 2018, the Government Accountability Office also released a report showing that nearly every software enabled weapon system tested between 2012 and 2017 can be hacked, often by simple means like looking up default passwords online for commercially available software. Numerous parts of the F-35 program use this kind of software.
"It is filling in the blanks, saying that the Chinese hacked it and sent it to Cuba. There can be something that is true and you can have a question that is valid, the problem is when you start filling in all the blanks as though you know and you peddle that as if that is fact,” Steven said.
What do you think actually happened?
