Elton John Responds to Criticism Over Straight Actor Portraying him
Apparently, some SJW types are complaining about a straight guy playing Elton John in a new film. Well, Sir Elton himself responded to such ideas, proving any damn day of the week is alright for fighting:
Elton John has defended Rocketman star Taron Egerton over criticism that a straight actor should not play the gay icon. When I ask about the ridiculous criticism from folk who say a heterosexual man shouldn’t play a homosexual character, Elton waves his hand dismissively and says: “That’s all bulls**t, I’m sorry.
“If people don’t like it, review-wise, or it doesn’t make one dollar, it’s the movie I wanted to make and that’s all that counts. I can look back and say, ‘You know what, I love it. I can live with it’.”
Well, I think it's gonna be a long, long time before anyone tries pushing that bullhickey on Sir Elton again. His message to the haters couldn't be any more clear.
Look, acting is the art of playing pretend. Clint Eastwood doesn't actually shoot baddies with a .44 magnum. Ahnold Schwarzenegger isn't actually a cybernetic organism. Paul Rudd is not actually the size of an ant. Likewise, one does not have to actually like peen to portray a gay man. Crazy, I know.
Keep in mind, these are the same lefty SJWs who insist on turning straight characters gay. "Chris Evans is a straight guy, but he should totally be making out with Bucky Barnes." They have no problem with such notions when the move suits their narrative. Hypocrites.
The left is concocting new rules of political correctness every day. How wonderful life is when Elton John tells them to cram those rules up their keisters. If only more of us would do the same. God bless him.
While we're talking gayness:
