Biden's FTC is releasing the hounds on Elon Musk for the "Twitter Files" and you've got to hear their lame excuse
The FTC is big mad at Elon Musk over the Twitter Files. The organization sent 12 letters to Twitter demanding the names of journalists granted access to company records and for information about Musk's Twitter Blue subscription service.
According to the Wall Street Journal:
"On Dec. 13, the FTC asked about Twitter’s decision to give journalists access to internal company communications, a project Mr. Musk has dubbed the “Twitter Files” and that he says sheds light on controversial decisions by previous management. The agency asked Twitter to describe the “nature of access granted each person” and how allowing that access “is consistent with your privacy and information security obligations under the Order.” It asked if Twitter conducted background checks on the journalists, and whether the journalists could access Twitter users’ personal messages."
Ohh, so it's about our privacy. Makes total sense.

These letters were obtained by the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee, and excerpts were published yesterday in a staff report about the FTC’s investigation.
According to the report: "On December 10, Musk tweeted that “Twitter is both a social media company and a crime scene. Three days later, on December 13, the FTC demanded details of Twitter’s interactions with journalists, including “Bari Weiss, Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger, Abigail Shrier,” and the identities of all other journalists to whom Twitter had potentially provided access of its internal records."

Twitter has responded to the letters, but the FTC is worried about a "troubling pattern of ongoing delay” that raises “serious concerns about its compliance.”
They're also apparently concerned about the layoffs, with one official writing, "We are concerned these staff reductions impact Twitter’s ability to protect consumers’ information." I'm sure that Biden's FTC is just shaking at the thought of Americans' personal information being unprotected. Privacy and civil liberties are the names of the game in that White House.
Musk actually responded to a tweet of the WSJ article, writing, "A shameful case of weaponization of a government agency for political purposes and suppression of the truth!"

And he's right. It seems Biden's FTC is pissed because Elon let us plebeians in on some of what goes on at Twitter. And that information was not for our little dim-witted brains to know. So, they're now investigating Musk in retaliation for stepping out of line and shedding light on the corruption of the Biden administration. In the name of protecting our privacy, somehow. Sounds about right.
