The Cover-up of the cover-up: Our review of "Original Sin" by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson
Don't buy this. I read it so you don't have to.
Original Sin by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson is the story of the cover-up of Joe Biden’s mental decline and his decision to run for reelection. I can’t tell you what’s a lie, but I can tell you that it’s not the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. This book is a cover-up. It’s the cover-up of the cover-up.
The very idea that someone like Jake Tapper is eligible to put his name on a book like Original Sin is laughable in its own right. As if he wasn’t part of the cover-up, as though he wasn’t a willing perpetrator.
But, with Alex Thompson of Axios, Jake Tapper is the only pundit who is anywhere near spitting distance of a claim to being a moderate compared to everyone else on CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, Axios, Politico, ABC, NBC, Bloomberg, Vox, Slate, Time, USA Today, The Washington Post, NPR…did I miss any? Even Associated Press and Reuters can’t run from a left wing media bias. Think about it. If this book was authored by Brian Stelter, Van Jones or Don Lemon, would it even be given the time of day?
The right wing media was covering this from the beginning. Before the beginning, even, because the authors seem to think that Joe Biden has had a stellar career before the death of Beau (oh, yeah, you can’t get 8 pages into a book about Joe Biden without that coming up). No, Joe Biden has been a Democrat liability for years, maybe even decades and Original Sin attempts to rewrite history. According to this book, Biden has an impeccable foreign relations record. Except absolutely not. You don’t have to take my word for it. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said of former Vice President Joe Biden:
“I think he has been wrong on nearly every foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”
Original Sin also repeats the lie that Joe Biden didn’t need a second term because his first presidency was so successful.
Successful at one? Record number of Covid deaths? Record of forcing a dangerous vaccine on the military? Record inflation since the 1980’s? That inflation extended to his employment numbers that were revised down time after time? His record of the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan that resulted in the needless death of 13 service members? His defiance of Supreme Court decisions on the eviction moratorium and student loan debt? Let’s check in on his border policy. Oh. Oh, no. Oh, God, no.
And I haven’t even gotten to the cognitive decline yet.
Because even that is gaslighting. Calling what we watched happen to Joe Biden cognitive decline is like calling this a soft landing.
In Original Sin, Jake Tapper names names. He puts the blame on people like Mike Donilon, Ron Klain, Steve Ricchetti, Bruce Reed and Andrew Bernal. Hunter and Jill are implicated, too. But who really cares about these people, anyway? They can easily be kicked out of the Democrat party, can easily be scapegoated and go live out their lives as producers of podcasts and contributors to any number of MSNBC or CNN shows. And the Bidens? With Joe gone, they’re out of politics. Even if they weren’t, the last minute pardons practically assured they will be avoiding the spotlight.
Besides the people close to Biden lying and attempting to cover for his decline, Tapper and Thompson place some of the blame of Biden’s problems with the death of Beau and the prosecution of Hunter. As though those events in his life caused dementia, senility or *pick your term.* There are so many attempts to garner sympathy for Biden, to make him seem like America’s grandpa, that it was almost disgusting. Joe Biden is not a kind, doddering, dotting grandpa. He’s a bully who used the ‘N’ word on the Senate floor to try to get a rise out of Clarence Thomas. He’s a plagiarist who was forced out of two presidential campaigns.
In fact, here’s a montage of Joe Biden being a piece of sh*t to potential voters (as well as Steven calling out Biden’s decline before 2020):
Tapper doesn’t want to deal with Biden before 2020, as though these problems didn’t exist before Biden’s basement campaign for president. He doesn’t want to talk about the stolen primary (just ask Bernie.) He doesn’t want to talk about Joe Biden getting a record number of votes that suddenly disappeared in the 2024 election. And, let’s be clear, because Tapper makes it clear in the book, this is not an endorsement of Trump. To the contrary, Tapper takes every opportunity, and even creates some that weren’t there, to take swipes at Trump.
The culmination of everything is at the June 27, 2024 debate, where Joe Biden didn't even seem like he was there. And, despite the fact that Tapper sent a note back to the control room that said “Holy smokes,” despite the fact that Dana Bash passed a note to Tapper saying “he just lost the election,” the left wing media only factchecked Trump and said that Biden looked bad. I guess how do you factcheck the phrase “we finally defeated Medicare?”
Here are some stand out quotes (for me, at least:)
“The president was fond of using the formal family motto, of giving ‘my word as a Biden,’ but they had another, more private saying: ‘Never call a fat person fat.’”
Oh? Well, here’s the infamous “look, fat” comment surrounded by Biden stumbling his way through something he probably misremembered about Beau. Or is he talking about Hunter? And this is before 2020, Jake.
“In his home office in the South of France, Clooney sat down at his laptop.”
(To write his op-ed calling for Biden to step down.) Am I the only one who finds that sentence silly? Is George Clooney even an American anymore?
“The president made so many errors of name and fact – well beyond the normal here-and-there misstatements of anyone who talks a lot publicly – that White House transcribers quickly learned how to apply the “strikethrough” feature.”
First off, we noticed. Secondly, isn’t it a problem if they alter an official document?
“Aides would sometimes make the videos in slow motion to blur the reality of how slowly he actually walked.”
Maybe one of the few things I never knew or didn’t notice.
“Biden and his aides felt he had a special relationship with the everyday people that elites just didn’t get.”
Can we stop pretending that the Democrats are not the party of the elites? This book is so drenched in elitism, it’s not safe to have near an open flame.
If you’re looking for a good time, watch Megyn Kelly turn some screws on her interview with Tapper and Thompson.
No, Jake. You weren’t hoodwinked. You didn’t miss this. You weren’t lied to. The Trump/Biden debate wasn’t the first time you noticed. You were part of the cover-up. This is a lame excuse to try to write off Kamala’s loss as Joe Biden’s fault. It’s an attempt to lay the groundwork for an attack on Donald Trump’s mental acuity. Original Sin exists only so people like Tapper and, by extension, the media and every anonymous Democrat can cover their own ass. I’m not buying it, Jake. And I don’t think the rest of America is, either.
The only ones implicated are people the Democrats have approved for the slaughter. The people named are either out of the game or a pawn easily sacrificed in the name of the king. And, with the Democrats, party is king.
Oh, and Crowder called it.
