What would happen if a refugee wants to enter Canada and they have been accused or convicted of serious crimes? Nothing. The answer is very likely nothing, which is a result of staffing shortages.

Yes, you read that correctly. The Canadian government is not currently screening refugees because they claim they don’t have the manpower. And if you are surprised by this, then you have likely been living under a rock.

According to Juno News:

Canada’s border security is at risk, according to a union president who warns that the federal agency is dangerously understaffed, relying too heavily on phone apps over human interviews, and prioritizing “facilitation” over keeping the country safe.

Mark Weber, national president of the Customs and Immigration Union, testified during a House of Commons’ immigration committee meeting studying the Liberals’ Bill C-12, known as “the Strong Borders Act.” Weber stated that the measures in the new bill would be ineffective unless the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)’s budget and staffing issues were resolved.

During his testimony, Weber highlighted that the CBSA lacks the staff to conduct what he outlined as critical in-person interviews with individuals attempting to cross into Canada. He added that the agency now relies on a phone app called “One Touch” to process refugee claims.

What is it with progressive governments using apps to allow unvetted open borders? Am I living in the Twilight Zone, because where have I heard this one before?

Oh, wait….

Wow. If I didn’t know any better, I would say the similarities are way too close to be a coincidence, but I do know better, so I will not be saying that. But oddly, both apps allowed migrants to essentially use an automated system to bypass in-person check-ins. And even more coincidentally, these apps were both launched to fix the overwhelming backlog of refugees. Interesting, very interesting.

Also, something tells me this will only increase the number of refugees trying to enter Canada, but maybe that’s just a hunch. I don’t know. What’s your two cents?

Why can’t officials just enforce a secure border? Why must they do everything in their power to allow everyone and their grandmas to come in unvetted? Don’t they care if they are letting in, well, I don’t know, criminals?
