BREAKING: Officer Charged with Felony Murder for Shooting of Rayshard Brooks
Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard has announced murder charges against the officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks, after Brooks grabbed the officer's taser and was threatening to shoot the officers with it. The story is developing.
A district attorney's office in Atlanta announced 11 charges against Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta police officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks last week, including felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
At a news conference Wednesday, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said his office spoke with at least three witnesses and reviewed eight videos of the shooting prior to determining whether charges were necessary.

I'm not a Georgia lawyer. I don't even play one on TV. So I'm going to wait to hear more details before forming a more thorough opinion. But I can't help but think about the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case. And the incompetent prosecutor who was more concerned about social justice than actual justice, overcharged Zimmerman, and then couldn't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Zimmerman did what the prosecutor overcharged him with. While I'm not a Georgia lawyer, I do know someone who is.
So the one question that stands out is how you get to felony murder when there is video that appears to show the officer working in self-defense. I guess that's where the criminal justice system comes in.
