I don't know what's going on in Oregon. They teased us a little bit in 2022 that a Republican might have a chance for the governorship. With all the headwinds the GOP is facing, I'd rather we focus on the Senate in Minnesota, Michigan, and New Hampshire. However, if you are a Republican running in a blue state where everything from your opponent is a noun and a verb and a TRUUUUUUUUMP, this is the perfect response.

Christine Drazan is the Republican running for Governor. Tina Kotek is the Democrat who is governor. I'm not familiar with the day-to-day in Oregon, other than Portland is batsh*t crazy. Still, I'm guessing it's like many blue states where it's unaffordable, crime-riddled, and sees jobs and opportunities going to red states. But because of low information, voters living on top of each other in a city or two, they keep reelecting the same failed Democrats, because what else are they going to do? Vote for a Republican? Ewww, gross.

Oregon is also a state where they went to criminalize farming, and where someone who thinks she's a turtle sat on a mental health board. But I digress.

If your opponent wants to make everything about Trump, mock her for it and bring everything back to her failures.

Or make it a drinking game, as Drazan did in last night's debate.

As a conservative who inhabits a deep blue state, I understand the instinct to run from Trump. I also think it's misguided and futile.

Trump's mere existence is what drives democrat turnout, so running from him isn't going to attract people to your side. Plus, even if you're the biggest anti-Trump RINO, they're gonna call you MAGA anyway. Just look at Susan Collins in Maine.

The better thing to do is say, "Yeah, I get it. Trumpity Trumpy Trump Trump." Then steer the debate/conversations to all the ways your specific democrat opponent has failed families and taxpayers.

A state like Oregon might be too far gone for it to work in a single election. But it's a much-needed start.
