Alexandria Cortez Can't Afford a DC Apartment. Wants an "Electoral" Fix?

Brodigan
November 09, 2018

It's because of stories like this we're thankful for Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Nina Pinta Santa Maria Cortez (see Alexandria Cortez Can’t Answer How She’ll Fund Government Proposals and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Compares Climate Change to Nazi Germany). Who will be a congresswoman for life simply because she's a liberal in New York City. She'll never be challenged by a pathetic and incompetent NY GOPer. Seriously, I sometimes wonder why they even bother letting NY have a GOP in the first place. But that's for another time.

This is about how Cortez can't afford to move to DC until she starts working. A story that is true for many 20-year olds, and quite a few freshman congressmen. The difference is a Republican freshman will sometimes sleep on a cot in their office to save money. Cortez thinks there is a *squints at notes* electoral fix for her in ability to make rent.

There are many little ways in which our electoral system isn’t even designed (nor prepared) for working-class peopl… https://t.co/7yV5gJB2Ed

That's right. We're going to change the rules so incoming freshman get a taxpayer-funded allowance for November to January. Or maybe taxpayers will just pay for an entire apartment building. The Hillary House, or something. That way, congress doesn't have to worry about rent at all!

Other 20 somethings, who can barely afford their glorified closet in Logan Circle were unavailable for comment. Likely because they were too busy working to put their hands out and whine.
