The Yamassee Guale Nation of Georgia received a proclamation from the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, and as of writing this, there are more questions than answers.
On Oct. 27, the Yamassee Guale Nation received the proclamation, which, according to their Instagram, “marks an important moment for our Nation as we continue to preserve our history, honor our ancestors, and ensure that the voices and heritage of Southeastern Woodland Indigenous peoples are acknowledged and respected.”
Cobb County honors Native Americans by having an African American in tribal attire identify as being an "indigenous person"This could be a South Park skit https://t.co/UtdWz4fimz

It really is unclear what this means or what history must be preserved, but the fact that this is real is astonishing.
According to the tribes about me:
The AhíTvlâōfoh Yamassee–Guale Nation of Georgia is a living Indigenous community whose people trace their lineage to the Yamassee and Guale nations of the Southeastern Woodlands. Our ancestors occupied and moved throughout what is now Georgia, South Carolina, and northern Florida. Lands shaped by river systems, trade routes, diplomacy, resistance, and survival.
Colonial expansion, forced displacement, warfare, and political erasure fractured many Southeastern tribes. Some were removed, some were absorbed, and others survived by adapting, blending into surrounding communities, quietly maintaining kinship ties, and carrying culture forward within families rather than institutions. The Yamassee–Guale story is one of resilience through concealment, continuity through community, and survival in plain sight.
Again, it is unclear what is being preserved or why they are dressed in costume and face paint, so use your imagination. However, its mission is to promote self-sustainability, integrity, and pride in our history and heritage.” This is also unclear, but I digress. If the county wants to honor a tribe to signal their lack of virtue, that is their prerogative.
This is not the first time a government entity has honored a tribe, and it certainly won't be the last.
The Obama center opening opens with a land acknowledgement:“We honor the Anishinaabe, the Council of Three Fires, the Ojibwe, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi Nations.” https://t.co/aR9oM8Ee2t

And more insanity from around the globe:
Canada's largest Conservative networking conference begins with a pathetic land acknowledgement, declaring Ottawa to be the "never surrendered homeland of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation."This is so embarrassing. https://t.co/46R0x5SJZj

Can the left get any more pathetic than this?
