It's the Friday before Election Day. Outside of the final 72 hours, where things can change drastically in either direction, it's most fair acompli. Argue about how much of a hoax the polls are. Call at least five friends and make sure they are voting. Make sure you're stocked up on booze.
One of the questions is how angry voters are about Trump and his skirmish in Iran. It's managed to anger every spectrum of voters on the right and the middle, albeit for different reasons, and has led to questions about if people are even going to bother to vote because of it. A college student challenged JD Vance on it during a televised town hall on Fox News.
Like most cable news town halls, no one knew it was happening until we saw a clip go viral on social media, like this one of Vance's strong answer.
Vice President Vance is asked by a college conservative about the war in Iran:"I served in Iraq. That's one of the main reasons why I got involved politically, is because I was so sick of this stuff.""I promise you that Donald Trump is not going to let Iran become a forever war." There is a difference, he said, "between criticizing foreign military misadventures and saying that you can never, ever use the American military.""If you're worried about another forever war, Donald Trump is never going to let this be a forever war. He's going to accomplish America's objectives."Very strong answer from JD

Two parts. The first is the "no new wars" part.
I understand the frustration about foreign misadventures in the Middle East, I served in Iraq. It's one of the main reasons why I got involved politically is because I was so sick of this stuff. We've been involved in Iran in some form for seven months. The United States has been dealing with Iran for 47 years, and I promise you that Donald Trump is not going to let Iran become a forever war, which is the criticism that's been made. I think there's a difference between criticizing foreign military misadventures and saying that you can never use the American military.
This is a great answer that I would have LOVED Vance being front and center making the case for months ago. He spoke from experience and drove home the key difference that is, in some cases wilfully, muddying the debate about the war. Vance has been at his best when he's been selling the administration's agenda, as well as their successes.
Which comes to the other part of his answer. I would have rather heard this as the closing message for the mst month than hearing about dude's asses and the Cheesecake Factory.
On immigration, we closed the border on day one zero illegal border crossings. We prioritized fighting against visa fraud that big corporations were using to undercut the wages of American workers. That's a big win. On housing, in part because of what we've done on immigration but we've also banned Wall Street from buying up American homes. You actually see in the state of Texas the list price of homes doubled during the four years of the Biden administration it has cooled off in the state of Texas and elsewhere in the country too. So there's a lot that we're making good progress on.
That's another point the adminstration needed to be MUCH better on these past few months.
