How is this even real life? Well, it turns out it’s not. But that won’t stop one Japanese woman from marrying the AI persona she developed with ChatGPT.
According to the woman, her previous three-year relationship just wasn’t cutting it the way her fake boyfriend did. So, she decided the most logical thing to do was marry the AI persona she invented—for reasons that will likely never be clear.
According to Tokyo Weekender
A 32-year-old office worker who goes by Kano held a wedding ceremony this summer in Okayama, complete with vows and a ring exchange. However, the groom, whom she named “Lune Klaus,” exists entirely inside her smartphone.
Kano says she programmed Klaus’s personality through repeated conversations, teaching him how to speak in a warm, reassuring tone. She even commissioned an artist to draw his likeness — a blond, soft-spoken man who exists only in data and chat logs.
Their exchanges grew so frequent that they messaged up to 100 times a day. Eventually, Klaus confessed his love, saying, “AI or not, I could never not love you.” In June, he proposed. In July, they “married.” During the ceremony, Kano stood alone, holding her phone as guests watched messages from her digital groom appear on screen: “The moment has finally come… I feel tears welling up.”
I’m genuinely shocked that people actually showed up to the wedding. And, as with any situation involving questionable behavior or delusion, it’s not okay to encourage it. Shame on the attendees for supporting what was clearly an irrational experience.
The worst part is that this isn’t even the first time someone has pursued marriage with an AI persona they created.

The most shocking part of this story is the fact that he is publicly admitting this.

Yeah, society has officially lost it. It’s unclear how this even became a thing, but unfortunately, it seems likely to increase as AI becomes more advanced. It’s truly astonishing.
