The Term "Toxic Masculinity" Harms Boys, Says Meryl Streep
Toxic masculinity is a popular phrase thrown around by the left (see Study Tries Linking Climate Change with ‘Toxic Masculinity’ and PETA Releases Bizarre Vegetable Fruit Phallic Ad in Efforts to Fight “Toxic Masculinity”). Like most phrases that leftists come up with, it really just means "anything we don't like." So it's pleasantly surprising to see that Meryl Streep isn't a fan of the two words either. Especially her explanation why. Pinch yourself, as this is real.
“Sometimes I think we’re hurt. We hurt our boys by calling something toxic masculinity. I do,” Streep said. “And I don’t find [that] putting those two words together ... because women can be pretty f***ing toxic.”“It’s toxic people,” the Suffragette star said. “We have our good angles and we have our bad ones.”
Streep added that she thinks labels can be “less helpful” than direct communication when calling out detrimental behaviour.

Especially for the point about "labels." Because the reason leftists come up with these labels is to shut down direct communication. The labels are their excuse to never have to communicate, or to be more specific, defend themselves. Disagree with a liberal about something? Meh, that's just your toxic masculinity. Or your white privilege. Or your solveforx-phobia. People who say things like "toxic masculinity" unironically are silly people. Make fun of them, and don't even dodge the insults.
As for Meryl Streep, we could use more intellectual honesty like this. Especially from her colleagues in the entertainment field. Does this mean we're giving Meryl a pass on all her other foibles? No. But like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, when someone is right, they deserve kudos.
