Well, maybe not "shocked." After all, this is Chicago. The city politicians have always been on the cutting edge of corruption. If anything, there's a degree of disappointment here. Chicago sets expectations when it comes to being corrputAF. Letting a celebrity walk for faking a hate crime is just lazy. Almost as lazy as the writing on Empire.

All joking aside, the situation has piqued the curiosity of the FBI. Who have questions.

Two law enforcement officials briefed on the matter tell @ABC the FBI is *reviewing* circumstances surrounding dismissal of criminal charges against Jussie Smollett. ABC News is told this is not an investigation. It is a "review" or "inquiry".

As the ABC7 Chicago I-Team revealed this morning, records obtained from the Chicago police file on the Smollett case show the FBI was already involved in part of the investigation.

Personally, I don't think the District Attorney thought this one through. Not that she'll ever be held accountable for it. After all, she's a Democrat. You can be a ham sandwich in a pussy hat and an "I Heart AOC" button, and it would still beat any Republican. But even by shameless political standards, dropping charges against Jussie without even pretending he's sorry is really shameless.

Let's see what the FBI comes up with.
