SLC Officially Declares LGBTQ Flags As Municipal Flags To Evade State Law
There is really zero reason a government entity should be designating official flags for barely a fraction of the population, solely because it honors their insignificant bedroom preferences. However, that is the reality for Salt Lake City, as the mayor intends to designate at least two LGBT flags in retaliation for a newly enacted state law that bans flying flags on public property.

Question: Will the city also be dedicating a flag for straight men? Or when they claim they want "each and every resident" to feel welcome, do they only mean a small minority of the population? Because that is exactly what it seems like. It's also so pathetic how they pretend this is extremely deep, when they could not get more shallow if they tried. And the cringe, "we believe in you," mantra is deeply unsettling, as they pretend they are doing something the least bit significant.
According to NBC:
Salt Lake City adopted three new city flags Tuesday, an effort to circumvent a new Utah law that effectively banned flying LGBTQ Pride and other flags at public buildings in the state.
Mayor Erin Mendenhall, a Democrat, presented the proposal to the City Council, which adopted it at its meeting Tuesday night. It incorporates the city's flag into designs celebrating Juneteenth, LGBTQ rights and trans rights.
In March, Utah became the first state to make it illegal to fly such flags at all public schools and universities and government buildings, triggering outrage among Democratic officials and civil rights groups in the state. That law prohibits unsanctioned flag displays and was widely interpreted to ban flags celebrating various communities in Salt Lake City, a blue spot in socially and politically conservative Utah.
This is also not the first city to pull something like this.
Boise City Council just passed a resolution recognizing the pride flag as an official city flag to circumvent Idaho law which only allows official city, state and federal flags be flown from government buildings

Look, it’s great that the government pretends to want to honor all people, but, ironically, it does so at the expense of the majority of the population. So, in other words, in their pathetic pursuit to be as inclusive as possible, they have ended up excluding most residents. Funny how those things tend to work out that way.
These are not even flags dedicated to accomplishment, as I thought the whole premise was that they are “born this way.” That would make it logically equivalent to only celebrating twins or people with blue eyes. None of that matters, especially when it comes to government priorities, but liberals believe otherwise.
Maybe one day, city officials will work on things that truly matter for residents, but until then, the same cannot be said for SLC and Boise.
