Rinna Rem was called a racial slur at a bar. That’s terrible. Racists are losers. Okay? Okay.
It upset her to the point that she needed therapy. Okay? Okay.
See, this is where you lose me.
An Asian woman has asked white people to pay for her therapy because she claims living with them makes her ill. Rinna Rem, from Portland, Oregon, says the stress of being Thai-Cambodian in a predominantly white city means she has to spend $100 a month on treatment. After suffering ‘institutional racism’ for most of her life, she decided to launch a crowdfunding page, telling white people: ‘Now it’s your turn to pay.’
Let’s set aside the fact that if you call yourself a “comedian” but provide this topic with ‘thoughtful analysis’ instead of a five minute bit, I laugh at you and not with you. So the two people in this video who call themselves “comedians” are (as I’ve written about at great length) everything wrong with comedy today.
This is also emblematic of Social Justice Warrior culture at large. These people prevent us from having meaningful conversations about serious problems in lieu of trending on social media. It’s more predictable than a Will & Grace repeat (SPOILER: Jack does something super gay). Here’s the gameplan.
1. Devise a non-viable solution to a non-existant “social justice” problem.
2. Call anyone who disagrees with you “racist.” It may seem counter-intuitive, but in the SJW community, is common practice.
4. Social Justice Superstar!
Seriously, Google “Rinna Rem” and read all of the “think” pieces applauding her for doing this, and about how brave she is.
Then save yourself and your sanity and destroy your computer.
